Best Coffee in El Chalten, PAISA – High Mountain Coffee

The best coffee in El Chalten, Patagonia – Argentina!

Location

Located just off the main street in El Chalten very near Patagonia Hikes camping gears, this beautiful decorated cafe is definitely a place to relax after a long walk or on a windy cold Patagonia afternoon. The cafe provides a comfy inside area with WIFI available in the shop. It also has a beautiful comfortable outside area perfect for a sunny afternoon. They are open from 7:30am – 1pm and then re open again from 3pm- 8:30pm.

Cafe Characteristics

Me and Ed had just finished a three day hike on a really windy afternoon and I felt so desperate for a coffee that we went for a quick stroll around town. When I look for a coffee I look out for a cafe that has some character and a professional barista machine. We walked passed Paisa and straight away I was attracted by the decor and how bright and refreshing it looked inside.

We sat down and could smell lovely fresh cakes and pastries being baked and I could hear the most amazing sound… The milk being frothed with care. If you’re a barista yourself or into coffee you know what I mean. There is nothing worse then ordering your coffee and hearing that awful sound of the milk just being destroyed.

We knew this place would be promising for a delicious coffee as they had a whole menu dedicated to a brewing station with all different styles and types of coffee press.

The coffee was so delicious and creamy and most important smooth. Everything from the coffee being ground to the milk being poured has had a lot of thought gone into it. The owner of Paisa coffee comes from Colombia and grew up on a coffee plantation so it’s safe to say you’re in good hands and being served a coffee by someone with expert knowledge.

Food

The shop also has a delicious food menu ranging from sweet treats to big brunches. One of my favourite things we tried was an ‘Arepa’ which is fried corn bread and was served with scrambled eggs. The perfect dish to accompany your coffee. We also particularly enjoyed the Avocado Bruschetta and the healthy yogurt granola bowl with a berry com-pot.

Atmosphere and added bonuses

Another bonus of the coffee shop is if you love the taste of their coffee, they also sell their own personal blend which you can use for French or Italian press. Something really handy, to be able to save some Pennys by not buying out everyday but still enjoy a delicious coffee.

The staff are super friendly and they put a lot of effort into the food and drinks. The cafe can get very busy but the staff are always smiling and having a chat with the customers. I also realised that they built great relationships with all their customers and many people coming for a coffee were regulars and often customers returning for a round two of PAISA high mountain Coffee. Like I said it’s definitely the best coffee in El Chalten!
